• Difference Between Reviews and Shoppable Videos:
Customer reviews and influencer shoppable videos are distinctly different on Amazon. Influencers can't get compensated for regular customer reviews; they should instead focus on creating shoppable videos to earn commissions.
• Understanding On-Site vs Off-Site Traffic:
Influencers earn higher commissions by driving traffic from off-site (like social media) to Amazon, instead of just generating views from on-site (users already on Amazon) interactions. Amazon strictly prohibits influencers from getting paid for customer reviews due to their community guidelines, which are intended to maintain trust in the review system.
• Payout Thresholds:
Amazon has a much lower payout threshold ($10) compared to YouTube's $100, making it easier for influencers to receive payments.
Influencer Program vs Associate Program: Influencers have unique storefronts and can create lists and shoppable videos, which gives them distinct tools compared to regular Amazon Associates who only generate affiliate links.
• Amazon Inspire:
Amazon introduced a feature called Inspire, allowing users to browse influencer videos based on interests, similar to short video feeds. However, views from Inspire may not always result in sales.
• Creator Connections and Logie:
The new Creator Connections feature is designed to help influencers connect with brands for campaigns, similar to the Logie site, which offers higher commission rates for products.
•FTC Compliance:
Influencers need to be aware of FTC guidelines for disclosures, ensuring they communicate any paid promotions or affiliate relationships in their content.
•Avoiding Paid Reviews:
Influencers should refrain from accepting payment for product reviews, focusing instead on authentic content that aligns with their influencer role.
